Cephalopod-Part One: The Squid

What is it about cephalopods that captures the imagination and leaves humans so spellbound? For me, I think it’s because they are the closest we’ve knowingly come to meeting aliens.

This particular piece was a three-part project. The original step was to draw from photo inspiration the general design of the squid, I had to break it down into major and minor pieces so I could color it by hand-stitching fabric together. I used gold and space fabrics, which seemed incredibly fitting. Once the beast was glued and stitched together I added this one to the front of a sweatshirt and led his tentacles around the backside for a more fluid and dynamic feel. After some time I decided I wanted to get a print of it done, which I Exacto knife cut out and mounted onto a glass piece to give the appearance of the flying squid. The piece is pending sale.

Custom Dog Portraits

It all started with Kreighoff’s eyes. This dog had split eyes, but not one of each color, no this dog had horizontal split colors.; the top halves were brown and the bottom halves were blue. I always knew I wanted to create some sort of art with them. Thus the custom doggie patches were born. I’ve hesitated to advertise too much due to changing of talent, interest, and consistency. They all look so different, like each dog I suppose.
